Aftermath Timeline West Equatorial Africa Map

Based of a what-if question that popped into my mind. What if the US never finished the atomic bomb, and ended up fighting on the Japanese Home Islands? What if the Soviets invaded Hokkaido? What would the world be like?

With the European powers leaving Africa, many of the new states retained their colonial boundaries. The former French colony of French Equatorial Africa was taken over by a Congolese led Communist Party to become the People's Republic of Equatorial Africa. In 1970 with the backing of the Soviet Union, the PREA invaded neighboring Gabon to establish a puppet communist regime. Using the Gabonese Civil War as a pretext for the invasion, the Equatorial African People's Army quickly reestablished order in the country. On July 15th, 1970, the People's Republic of Gabon was declared. After Nigeria's defeat to in its Civil War, the West recognized the Republic of Biafra causing Nigeria to cut off all ties with the West in protest. Fearing another civil war, the military took control of the nation and declared martial law. After to British left Togoland in 1956, a power struggle broke out, resulting in a twelve year civil war. In 1968, a communist government took control of the nation and declared it the Socialist People's Republic of Togoland. After the Mali War (1962-1970), Niger and Mauritania divided Mali between themselves.
