After the nuclear strike on America by unknown forces and the breakdown of order around the world, many refugees fled to the People's Republic of China due to its relative stability. Most of the refugees were allowed to settle in Manchuria. When the world economy collapse and instability plaguing the nation by extremist refugees and angry citizens. With the deployment of the People's Liberation Army all across the nation, unrest grew. With support from Taiwan along with thousands of arms smuggled in with the refugees, the nation was plunged into civil war. After a few months the Communist Party collapse as armed groups battled throughout Beijing. China collapsed into several nations. In 2025, the Chinese nations formed a nation based on the principles of the former American democracy, but with many elements of a confederacy as the individual nations that made up the new Chinese Federation still retailed some degree of autonomy and independence. Taiwan was rejoined with the Mainland, joining the Federation's Republic of China. In 2026, the Federation's United States of Manchuria along with South Korea invaded North Korea. In 2027, Korea was reunited as the Republic of Korea and joined the Chinese Federation, hoping to gain security in a collapsing world. With the Russian Union distracted in Europe, the Chinese Federation conquered what is now known as the Tuva Frontier Line. Even though decades have passed since the annexation, most of the Tuva Frontier is under military rule. In 2034, the Neo-Japanese Empire invaded the Federation's Republic of Korea. In response, the Chinese Federation set up the 900 mile Koryo Fortress Line through southern Manchuria. Since then, the Line has held, but at a great loss.

The military of the Chinese Federation is not centralized. There is no Federal Army so to speak. Each of the individual republics maintain their own militaries with Federal funding. This creates many problems, but the republics don't want a unified military for fear of the government using it to repeat the days of martial law in the Federation's predecessor. The Military of the Republic of China is the strongest, followed by the Manchurian Armed Forces.
