MP 40g

A 9×19mm Parabellum submachine gun first adopted in Germany in 1940, during the Age of Galactic Exploration in the 2040s saw a resurgence of many antiquated firearms being reproduce in mass numbers. The MP 40 was among one of these many old guns readopted into military service. First readopted in 2131 by the newly independent Republic of Neue Wege, on the planet of Neue Wege, several hundred light years from Earth. The submachine gun was eventually modified to increase its rate of fire from 500 rpm, to 750 rpm, a fore grip to control recoil, and the placing of a fixed stock onto the SMG to also help control recoil an increase accuracy. When the Republic of Neue Wege became and autonomous nation in the Astro Federation in 2172, the MP 40g continued to be used in the local armies of the planet. When the Great War came to Neue Wege in 2110, the SMG proved very ineffective against the Red Alliance's assault rifles. Despite this, the weapon was still favored in close range firefights within less then 300ft. It is currently being phased out, but the SMG is still popular with civilians.
