Description

After the US collapsed into civil war, the globe was thrown into chaos. The already fragile global economy collapsed and many formerly prosperous nations found themselves completely unprepared for the severity of the crisis. Pakistan, by 2020, saw the near complete collapse of its economy as the collapse of the US (its largest trading partner), the civil war and collapse of China (its second largest trading partner), the Caliphate's expansion into the United Arab Emirates (which cut all trade ties to the rest of the world to fund the Caliphate's expansion into Northern Africa), and the complete destruction of the German economy due to the Russian invasion (Pakistan's fifth largest trade partner) resulted in Pakistan becoming economically isolated, but still somewhat stable. Bangladesh was hit worse as nearly 75% of all foreign trade stopped. Burma, already suffering from several severe internal problems collapsed into a near anarchic state. India was hit hard like Pakistan, but like Pakistan, began a series of programs to stabilize and develop its internal economy and to look for new trade partners. The Neo-Japanese Empire was keen to invest in the region, and by 2030 made up over 70% of all of Pakistan's trade, 95% of Bangladesh's trade, and 65% of India's trade. In 2032, concerned over the growing Japanese presence in the region, the Chinese Federation under the rule of dictator General Joseph E. Taylor, invaded and annexed the Burmese Shan, Kayah, and Kachin States. The annexations marked a change in the politics of the region that would heavily play in favor of the Japanese. Arunachal Pradesh, Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal, Northwestern India, and the Pakistani and Indian occupied parts of Kashmir were all invaded in 2034. By 2035, the majority of these territories fell to the Chinese Federation. China invaded in the hopes that it would scare Pakistan and India away from Japan through a show of force, but backfire and convinced them they needed to rely on Japan more for protection. In 2036, Pakistani military officers sympathetic to the Neo-Japanese Empire overthrew the government in a violent coup and imposed martial law. The take over was marked by a sudden purge of the military and government. In 2036, the Neo-Japanese Empire invaded a weakened Burma and by 2038 had taken control of the nation. In 2036, Japan invaded the Maldives and installed a friendly regime. In 2037, the Neo-Japanese Empire sent a naval force to Bangladesh in a show of force to convince Bangladesh into becoming a protectorate of Japan. In 2038, India fell to pressure and diplomacy and by using the unpredictable threat of the Chinese Federation to the north, Japan was able to convince India to fall completely into its sphere of influence. In 2039, the Indian Union was formed out of Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bangladesh, and Burma. While ostensibly a protectorate of the Neo-Japanese Empire, the Japanese exercise a weak hand over the nation in fear that demand too much would result in losing control over the region. The Indian Union is a nuclear power, and the last thing Japan needs is a rebel nuclear region. In 2040, the Indian Union was reorganized by the Japanese into its current form. The Fourth Sino-Japanese War (2045-2058) was devastating to the Indian Union. The war started over a border clash which quickly escalated out of control. By 2050, the Chinese Federation had over 450 million soldiers (versus 300 million from the Indian Union) fighting across the Indian Union in the bloodiest war in history. The war reached its conclusion when the Chinese Federation laid siege to Delhi in 2058, bombarding the city for five days and reducing it ruins and killing nearly all 36 million of its inhabitants. The resulting fight over the rubble of the former city lasted for over a month and was the fiercest fighting in the entire conflict. The fighting stopped when the Russian Union threatened to declare war on both Japan and China unless they stopped fighting. The Russian president, Generalissimus Vladislav F. Petrov (a survivor of the 2019 nuclear attack on Eastern Europe), was extremely fearful of nuclear war, and believing that any more fighting would result in a nuclear exchange. A ceasefire was agreed to and after a tense two months of negotiations, the Treaty of Moscow was signed officially ending the war. The Indian Union which had managed to invade and occupy the Shan States and Karenni Republic of the Chinese Federation was given control of these regions. The Fourth Sino-Japanese War complete destroyed the north parts of the union as neither side was willing to back down. Entire cities were left ruined shells of their former selves and over a billion people died on all sides. The Neo-Japanese Empire contributed significantly to the reconstruction efforts which helped cement relations between the two states even further.

Should be 印度連邦

And I don't get why Japan would suddenly invade Myanmar when both the current junta and the rebel nationalists are friendly towards Japan both currently and historically.

Also, if Pakistan goes into chaos, shouldn't Iran seize the opportunity to seize the whole country or at the very least Balochistan?
