Aquintri, the world of water and towers. Aquintri is an unusual hive world. Slightly larger than Terra, (40,075.017 km is the equatorial circumference of Terra; 42,023.049 km is Aquintri's equatorial circumference) Aquintri is a mostly empty ocean world. With all the worlds solid land centered around an equatorial belt known locally as the "Serpent's Spine". Founded as a mining colony many millennia ago (despite its lack of solid land above, below the shores of the Spine is, or was, a vast amount of minerals), when the mines ran dry the hives were already taking form. Aquintri began to exploit its five moons to keep the smelters going. When the Rem Sector was being organized, Aquintri was chosen as a sub-sector capital despite the protest from the world's nobles. When the world of Yon was being settled, the noblemen of Aquintri tried to have it incorporated into their sub-sector despite it being settled predominately by those from the hive world of Kiplov in the neighboring sub-sector. When the dispute almost led to war between the two sub-sectors, a compromise was created by ceding Yon to the Remintal Sub-sector despite the wishes of either side. Soon after the Yon Crisis, Aquintri decided to focus on trading with the rest of the Imperium rather than just remain known a simple smelting world. By focusing their efforts on opening new trade routes several new stable warp routes were discovered. When other worlds in the Imperium found it difficult to communicate with Aquintri merchants due to their use of Gloízykshauk (the traditional language mainly used in the western half of the Rem Sector), the nobles declared the traditional language illegal within the Aquintri Sub-sector and declared only Low Gothic could be used. Despite many of commoners protesting, most of the nobles throughout the sub-sector embraced this decree so they enforced it. The area now known as the Gomanor Sub-sector held the only worlds were all its inhabitants, high and low alike, protested the move to abandon their traditions. In 974.M40, the worlds that make up the modern Gomanor Sub-sector issued the "Ongrafati o vitilyennya" (or Documents on Secession in Gloízykshauk) where they stated that while they were seceding from the Aquintri Sub-sector and their grievances, they still pledged their loyalty to the Imperium and the Emperor and that their worlds would still pay their tithes to Terra. The news of this document angered the nobles of Aquintri and caused panic and outrage amongst the commoners. When the documents made their way to the sector governor on Remintal, representatives from Aquintri tried to convince the governor to send troops to quell this "uprising". Against their demands, the governor accepted the terms of the documents, hoping to prevent a civil war, and announced the creation of the Gomanor Sub-sector. When the hive world of Audry was discovered to be infested with genestealers and revolted, it cut off the only stable warp route between Aquintri and Gomanor, and with the sub-sector being forced to focus on this significant threat quickly abandoned its frustration with the "Gomanor Problem".
Despite its aquatic nature, Aquintri houses many large hives, Hive Trident being the most significant. Built over the original entrances to the ancient mines which act as the foundations for the hives, many visitors to Aquintri are stunned by these "hives on water". While being a large hive world, Aquintri's air and water remain rather clean as the nobles attempted, and for the most part succeeded in, keep the environment clean so their view of their world from the spires would be intact. A certain peculiarity developed out of this plan, the open sides of the hives that allow fresh air and natural sunlight into the sides of the lower levels. Most of the planet's waste is disposed of by storing what can't be reused on the barren world of Shavrashal (the planet closest to Aquintri's sun). While to hivers of other worlds these very ideas seem strange, but it has resulted in many of the sector's powerful merchants, noble families, and other sector elites buying villas on the world leading to many offworlder seeing Aquintri as the elites playground.
